A Belated Birthday Wish

Diana beat me to it. I am a day late. But, I also want to acknowledge a special person's birthday.

It was Zenmomma's birth day yesterday. And do you know how thankful I am that she was born?

I have a hard time putting it into words. Mary was on the unschooling.com discussion list back, oh, 5-6 years ago and she was so helpful to me. Her words put calmness in my heart. Her words gave me courage to do what felt right to me. Unschooling became a reality for me and my family. Largely due to this wise woman's words.

So thank you Mary.

I'm so glad you were born. And I'm so excited to be closer to you... very, very soon :)

I'm just catching up on blogs and see that you're moving to OR. Congratulations! It's a great place to live.

What a nice post, Kelli -- I love seeing how happy you guys look in that picture.
I remember doing a search on the computer after another horrible morning of trying to drop my boys off at school -- kindergarten and first grade -- and finding the unschooling discussion boards. I don't remember if Zenmomma was there yet -- I was just trying to absorb a totally new way of thinking -- but if she wasn't, she was soon after. Her kindness and her clarity about unschooling and children was like a beacon. :)

My boys are 14 and 15 now, my daughter almost 21. Unschooling changed our family, and Zenmomma had a big part in that, for which I'll always be grateful.

Ah, Oregon! My husband would move there for the outdoors, hiking, climbing, etc., my runner son would move to be closer to his Ducks, and I would just love to find some unschooling community. I'm so happy for your family!

I'm glad I posted it :) I was kind of thinking.. hmm, day late, already sent her an e-mail.. but I came across that picture and I so love it and I didn't think it had made an appearance here yet, so there *g*

Yes, Kristin we're going and that's right you're out there too, cool!

Laura - you too can join us in Oregon! Can't you see Alec and Owen and Jesse playing their games? :) It's a big endeavor but it's so worth it to us right now.
